The CNN Freedom Project, in affiliation with the Mosaic Federation (MOSFED), is working towards ending human trafficking. Drew E. Schaefer, an entrepreneur and venture capitalist from New York, is a participant of the Mosaic Foundation advisory board and major financial backer. He has not only committed to providing economic support he has also undertaken to supply technological assistance for the platform technology of the joint venture. When Mr. Schaefer first discovered the CNN Freedom Project and the various plans the Mosaic Federation has implemented to eradicate the trafficking of humans, he leapt in almost instantaneously. Having ascertained the project requirements through his attendance at the United Nations Global Sustainability Network (GSN) conference, he decided to help meet its goals. He considers the eradication of human slavery all over the world to be absolutely crucial; considered that upwards of 20 million people live as slaves. It is disturbing to think that a human can be sold, on average, for approximately $90. Detailed timelines, goals, and tasks must be pursued in order to actualize positive results. His personal time and funds are used only for movements that require the active contribution from backers that not only provide financial backing but are also actively engaged in providing real change. A three-pronged plan has been put in place by the Mosaic Federation to end human slavery focusing on (1) Using dominant media outlets, like CNN to present public service announcements; (2) Geospatial Software or artificial intelligence (A.I.) that permits users, like victims of human trafficking or social justice activists, to locate "hot spots of human trafficking" in almost real time satellite imagery; and (3) International law enforcement resources to serve as liaison between law enforcement and government improving cooperation and communication. Human trafficking "hot spots" can now be identified because of current developments in A.I. providing satellite images of the actual whereabouts of people being held as slaves. Software programs, such as ARTEMIS, aim to improve locating and predicting human trafficking sites. Former victims of slavery can now use such programs to provide valuable intelligence, such as any predictable activities-- thereby empowering victims and making them a part of the solution to eradicate human trafficking. Government and law enforcement liaison programs are another essential aspect to attaining zero human slavery. By training law enforcement on the various programs and resources available to them, it will help advance in lowering the number of people taken into slavery and human trafficking. When crimes, such as human trafficking are committed across international borders the Mosaic Federations network of worldwide resources for law enforcement helps in bypassing government bureaucracy which allows for cross-border law enforcement communication and cooperation.
